Arts & Health South West, Director
The closing date for applications is 5pm Monday 26th April 2010
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and dedicated individual to shape the future of this young and developing organisation. It is a challenging but rewarding role that will suit a self-starter and creative thinker who enjoys working with a diverse range of people and professions including artists, health professionals and policy makers.
We are looking for a strategic thinker with drive and vision who wishes to play a key role in the development of the arts and health field regionally and nationally. They should have excellent communication and project management skills and a good knowledge and understanding of the arts and health field.
Arts & Health South West is at an important stage in its development. Since its formation in 2006, it has established itself as a key arts and health organisation both regionally and nationally. It now seeks to consolidate the achievements by strengthening its resources in order to develop and increase its role across the sector. It has developed a three year Development Plan which sets out how this will be achieved. The Development Plan was approved by the Trustees in December 2009 and AHSW has been successful in achieving the first milestone set out in the Development Plan by securing three years funding from Arts Council England for March 2010 – March 2013. The next milestones in its development will be the recruitment of two members of paid staff, and securing a contribution towards its funding from Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) across the region, towards which negotiations are already underway.
The appointment of a Director (2 days a week) to lead the organisation through delivering the wider objectives set out in the Development Plan is therefore the first of two planned appointments. It is proposed that a Coordinator (3 days a week) will be appointed to support the Director once the PCT funding has been secured. On appointment, therefore, the Director will be the sole employee of AHSW. It is our intention that the Coordinator will be in post by October 2010.
